Touted to be one of the most anticipated releases of next year, actor Kunal Kapoor‘s upcoming trilingual movie ‘Veeram’ has now reached the prestigious platform of 89th Academy Awards. The movie is an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s classic play ‘Macbeth’ and the fifth installment in director Jayaraj’s ‘Navarasa’ series. The song of the film, ‘We will rise’, has been nominated for the Original Song category. It has been sung by Kari Kimmel, and composed by Jeff Rona, an American composer who is better known for his earlier works in movies like ‘Phantom’, ‘God of War III’ and ‘Traffic’.

Talking about this proud moment for an Indian film achieving this feat for the first time, director Jayaraj has given a statement saying, “Nothing is impossible for an Indian. I am proud to lead an Indian Film Production Company which not only produced an English film but also achieved the unique distinction of being shortlisted for an Oscar nomination for its English Song… We will rise…”
‘Veeram’ had recently premiered at the BRICS festival in New Delhi and received an overwhelming response there.
