After the ‘Udta Punjab’ controversy row, CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani has to be found with a microscope. The Mumbai High Court’s verdict on releasing ‘Udta Punjab’ has sent him to complete backfoot.
So, not only a large part of Bollywood fraternity welcomed the HC’s decision to release the film but also demanded that Nihalani be removed from his post.
We love our sanskari CBFC chief for his dedication; he was only doing his job. “I am not answerable to the film industry. If the government asks me to step down, I’ll do so. I’ve been doing my job honestly and sincerely. No producer can claim his film was delayed because of the CBFC. There is zero corruption in the CBFC and we are working towards online certification. I am happy with my performance in the CBFC. For those who are unhappy with what I’ve done, I’ve no apology to offer. Don’t target me for doing my job,” he told a leading daily.
Ouch! We understand what’s hurting him. 89 cuts and 13 changes have come back as a boomerang!
P.S. We were just a little disheartened to miss out on the James Bond kiss. (winks)
