Actress Disha Patani is all set as the release date of her Bollywood debut ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story‘ nears. The actress who garnered popularity with the single ‘Befikra’ co-starring Tiger Shroff, is determined to establish herself as a performer and not just as an eye candy. Hence, she is being really picky and choosy while selecting films.
Talking about it to an agency, Disha Patani said, “I don’t want to come across as a pretty looking girl. Because it is very easy, wear good clothes, wear good make-up, and you’ll look good. I know my abilities. I know I can do action, dance, but these are the areas I want to go later because I know I can do well in that. Performance is one thing which has to be good because you’re an actor.”
Disha had apparently rejected a lot of offers of commercial films before doing ‘Befikra’. The actress says that she is not against commercial and masala cinema, but she is certainly uncomfortable in turning just a showpiece in these projects.
“I want to do good work. I don’t want to be an eye candy. I don’t mind doing commercial films. Who doesn’t want to do a good dance film? But only where I have a strong character. Not just be there like a showpiece in the film. That’s something I want to stay away from. I know it is too early in my career to ask for, my first film isn’t out yet, but it’s something I believe in,” added the actress.
Disha Patani enjoys a good fan following down South, post her Telugu film debut with ‘Loafer’ in 2015.
In ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’, Disha plays the role of Dhoni’s first girlfriend Priyanka Jha. Reports suggest that Priyanka had died in a tragic accident in 2002 while Dhoni was in his early 20’s.
Starring Sushant Singh Rajput in the titular role, the film is slated to release on September 30.
