It was today morning that the news of Mahesh Bhatt and family receiving death from a Lucknow-based gang member, made it to the headlines. The caller apparently demanded Rs. 50 lakh or else he would kill his daughter Alia Bhatt and wife Soni Razdan.
He even messaged Mahesh that read, “If you fail to do so, I will fire several rounds of bullets in your daughter Alia and wife Soni.” This got the filmmaker worried and he immediately filed a complaint again the caller in Juhu Police station. The case was immediately transferred to the Mumbai Police’s Anti-Extortion Cell under section 387 (causing a person to fear death or grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion).
And in recent developments, the accused has been arrested by the UP police.
Mahesh tweeted about the development and thanked the police. He tweeted, “A bolt from the blue in the form of an extortion call & threat to my family was nipped in the bud by the MH & UP police in tandem. Gratitude!”
He later tweeted, “All of us is better than one of us !!”
This isn’t the first time an extortion call has come to the Bhatt family. Two years back, over 13 people belonging to a certain D gang had threatened to kill the family and was arrested in November 2014.
