Two years back when Mahesh Bhatt complained of getting threat calls, it shocked everyone. Police was immediate enough to take action and arrest 13 people who had plotted to kill the Bhatt family. And it has happened again.

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has now again received another extortion call from an unidentified individual, who has reportedly demanded Rs. 50 lakh from him and has also threatened to kill his wife Soni Razdan and daughter Alia Bhatt, if he does not deposit the amount in a Lucknow-based bank branch given by the caller. According to reports, Mahesh Bhatt received the threat call on February 26th and while he at first assumed it was a prank, he later also received a text and WhatsApp messages from the caller, who has claimed to be a top gang leader.

The message read, “If you fail to do so, I will fire several rounds of bullets in your daughter Alia and wife Soni.”

Worried Mahesh Bhatt has now filed a case at Juhu police station on Wednesday against the caller. The case has been registered under section 387 (causing a person to fear death or grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion). The case has been transferred to Anti Extortion Cell (ANC).

The Mumbai police has now recorded the statements of the family and also has beefed up their security.
