Mahira Khan is saddened over ‘Raees’ not releasing in Pakistan

Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan-starrer ‘Raees’ is going great guns at the Indian box office. However, the film unfortunately didn’t get a release in Pakistan.

Incidentally, Mahira is the first Pakistani actress to have bagged a role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in a Bollywood film. She sure would have expected the people in her homeland to watch ‘Raees’, and is disappointed as it didn’t happen.

“I am the first Pakistani actress who got the opportunity to work with Shah Rukh Khan as the main lead. But I feel that my success and fame has come under the evil eye due to which my film has not been able to release in Pakistan,” she told a Pakistani publication.

Following the terror attack in Uri, a permanent ban was imposed on Pakistani artistes working in Bollywood. It soon resulted in Pakistani exhibitors banning Bollywood films in their theatres. However, we hear the ban will be lifted soon.

“It is a good sign that the exhibition of Bollywood films is being reopened in the country,” Mahira adds.
