Nawazuddin Siddiqui

From doing one-minute side roles in films once, Nawazuddin Siddiqui is arguably the most bankable actor now. But it is more than difficult to abolish the preset idea of a ‘good-looking’ person. Not just women, but men are equally subjected to this judgment.

Last night, we came across Nawaz’s tweet; a dark and depressive one. “Thank U 4 making me realise dat I cannot b paired along wid d fair & handsome bcz I m dark & not good looking, but I never focus on that,” he has written.

The retaliation came after casting director Sanjay Chauhan’s (who cast Nawaz for ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’) remarks came in public. (Also Read: Nawazuddin Siddiqui shines in the rustic trailer of ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’)

“Nawaz was on the project even before its inception. Later Chitrangada Singh who was roped in opposite Nawaz left the project abruptly. So we had to again hunt for the leading lady. Keeping Nawaz in mind, all other characters were taken on board. We can’t cast fair and handsome people with Nawaz. It would look so weird. You have to take people with distinct features and personalities when pairing them with him,” Chauhan was quoted saying.

How sad that an actor’s complexion often overpowers his mettle? However, the vicious judgments of the showbiz world are an open secret now.

Nawaz will next be seen in Kushan Nandy’s ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’.
