Actress Sunny Leone‘s latest series of advertisements that promote a popular condom brands, have caught anger of a political party. The women’s wing of Republican Party of India has demanded immediate discontinuation on the ads being showcased, since they find them faulty on moral grounds.
“The advertising campaign objectifies the feminine gender and has proved to be a sheer embarrassment for all women viewers… It’s a very ugly scene and conveys a very different message,” Sheela Gangurde, secretary of women’s wing, told a news agency.
“In fact, we have received scores of complaints from women viewers, women activists and others on the ‘undesirable’ content of this and even some other advertisements promoting condoms or contraceptives, and these should be banned,” she added. At the same time, she emphasises that the Indian audience are not yet enough progressive to swallow such content, especially when Television is often watched by the entire family together.
The party has also issued a week’s ultimatum, asking the Government to withdraw the ads. Post that if showcase of the ads continues, they will opt for a stronger agitation.
