Bollywood’s ‘desi girl’ and now a global star, Priyanka Chopra is going places and how. She has been attending red carpets and gracing the talk shows with her wit, beauty, and humour, and the latest talk show which has been added to that list, is ‘The View’, wherein Priyanka appeared as a co-host.
All the five ladies on the show talked about various topics that women today face, one of which was body shaming. Speaking of the same, Priyanka went ahead and narrated one of her experiences as a newcomer in Bollywood. Priyanka shared, “Before I became an actor, I met a producer about the possibility of acting. I was a beauty pageant winner at that time, Miss World. And he said that everything was wrong about me. He said my nose was not proportionate, the shape of my body was not proportionate… ”
Hearing which, host Joy Behar interrupted and asked her, “Is that your original nose?”, to which Priyanka replied, “Yes, this is my original nose… ”
Priyanka further continued, “There is such a false perception about what women should look like and what our bodies should look like. Especially when you are in the business, you put on a couple of pounds and people are like… body shaming you. It happens. Christmas happens to all of us. I have Holi, I have Diwali, and my body fluctuates and I am fine with it.”
Aren’t her words ringing the truth bells? We just love the way Priyanka comes out and unabashedly speaks out what is correct.
