Hrithik Roshan-starrer ‘Kaabil’ became the first Bollywood film to release in Pakistan, after the self-imposed ban on Bollywood films was uplifted.
But looks like the Examining Committee of the Pakistan Censor Board are still very conscious when it comes to releasing films that might hurt the sentiments of their citizens. Akshay Kumar-starrer judicial satire-drama ’Jolly LL.B 2’ has now been banned by the Examining Committee of the Pakistan Censor Board, citing that the film addresses the sensitive Kashmir issue. Says a source, “In the movie, Akshay Kumar plays a lawyer who treats his profession casually until he comes across the case of an innocent man who is killed and declared a Kashmiri militant, while the real Kashmiri militant goes into hiding in Uttar Pradesh. Bringing up the issue has not gone down well with the Pakistani Censor Board. They’ve banned the film, as they intend to ban all Indian films that bring up the Kashmir issue.”
Last week, it was Rahul Dholakia’s ’Raees’ starring Shah Rukh Khan that was banned by the Pakistan Censor Board, for being “anti-Muslim.”
It is Taapsee Pannu and Amit Sadh’s ‘Running Shaadi’ which will now be releasing in the country next.
