Even though Shah Rukh Khan‘s recent release, ‘Raees’, has been applauded by many, unfortunately, the film is facing a ban in Pakistan. After uplifting the self-imposed ban on Bollywood films by releasing Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam-starrer in Pakistan, it was expected that ‘Raees’ will also get a clearance. But the Censor Board did not give a green signal to ‘Raees’ and hence, it will not make it to the theatres there.
As per reports, reason for this ban is the inappropriate portrayal of Islam and Muslims in the film. As we know, Raees aka SRK plays a gangster in the film and is a Muslim, the Censor Board had an objection to this and stated that Muslims have been shown in poor light. Hence, the ban.
But for ‘Raees’ director, this ban has left him outraged. He took to his Twitter handle to express his displeasure over the same and posted, “#raeesbanned in Pakistan ??? Outraged !! Dumbfounded!!”
Meanwhile, ‘Raees’ is doing exceptionally well in the Indian market. The film that also stars Pakistani actress Mahira Khan has already crossed Rs 100 crore mark at the Indian box office. (Also Read: This is how Shah Rukh and Mahira Khan learned Garba for ‘Raees’)
