Shah Rukh Khan in train

Last night, Shah Rukh Khan set off on a train journey from Mumbai to Delhi as part of ‘Raees’ promotions, in the August Kranti Rajdhani Express. He was scheduled to halt at stations in between and we were already expecting a frenzied crowd. But this resulted in a tragic incident as one person got caught up in the stampede and died, at Vadodara Rail Station.

The deceased’s name is Farid Khan Sherani who had come with his wife and daughter to get a glimpse of SRK.

The train which was scheduled to reach Vadodara at around 10:15 PM was running little late last night and halted for hardly a few minutes. The real mess happened when the crowd together rushed towards the exit. A number of men including Sherani fell down. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. There, the doctors declared him dead.

Sherani was involved with the local branch of Samajwadi Party and had also contested the civic elections in 2005. He ran a dormitory near the station.

Shah Rukh Khan also reacted to the death and expressed that he was extremely saddened.

“One of your colleagues, she was travelling with us and uncle came down to see us at Baroda and suffered a cardiac arrest. This is very unfortunate because this kind of journey where we spent time with each other and one of us loses someone, it saddens us all,” he said.

“Blessings and our prayers are with the whole family. She has reached there and I spoke with her. I think we have some of our people with her family members there. Hopefully, Inshallah, god will bless his soul,” SRK added.

May his soul rest in peace.
