Coldplay musician Chris Martin signed guitar with a sketch and boxer Mary Kom’s Olympic bronze medal winning kit were among the 11 iconic memorabilia featured on the auction hosted by actor Rahul Bose here.
The auction, put up by the actor and his NGO ‘The Foundation’ also includes Sania Nehwal’s signed T-shirt, her racquet, original manuscript of celebrated author Ruskin Bond’s “A Flight of Pigeons” with a personally signed copy, legendary cartoonist RK Laxman’s three hand drawn originals of “Four Decades of the Common Man” (1970-2010), artist Manjit Bawa’s signed sketch from “Acrobat” series and Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma’s early ‘Santoor’.
Laxman’s daughter-in-law Usha was present at the event along with others at the event held in South Mumbai last evening.
“It (response) has been overwhelming the massive size of Mumbai’s heart always amazes me. We exceeded our expectations and we promise to meet our donors’ expectations,” Bose said in a statement.
The proceeds from the auction have been directed towards the efforts of ‘The Foundation’ to create a world free of discrimination.
