Rakhi Sawant not arrested; spokesperson says she will surrender herself to the police

Couple of hours back, we came to know via a news agency ANI that actress Rakhi Sawant has been arrested by the Ludhiana police. This was done because of a comment of hers over Sage Valmiki on a television show. The same didn’t go down well the Valmiki community. But now, there’s a new update which states that the actress has not been arrested by Punjab Police.

Clearing the reports of Rakhi being arrested, DCP of Ludhiana Police Dhruman Nimbale, has said, “There has been no arrest of Rakhi Sawant by Ludhiana Police in Mumbai. Four-member team sent there is scheduled to return Wednesday morning and is in train currently.”

Also, a new development in the case is here. The spokesperson of the actress has said that she has already left for Punjab via air, and is on her way to surrender herself to the police.

According to the reports, an arrest warrant was issued against Rakhi Sawant based on a complaint lodged by a lawyer for her derogatory remarks on Sage Valmiki. The case was lodged last year in the month of July by an advocate Narinder Adiya. But, as the actress didn’t show up after receiving a summon from the court, they issued a non-bailable warrant against her. Further, Rakhi has also apologised to the Valmiki community saying that her intentions were not to hurt anybody. A video of her doing the same has surfaced on the internet.
