2017 is going to be a great year for Rana Daggubati. Before ‘Baahubali 2’ hits the theatres, Rana is going to have another very crucial release. You got it right! We are referring to ‘The Ghazi Attack’, India’s first ever war-at-sea film.
Rana, who plays a naval officer in the film, had to perform some underwater actions, which he chose to do himself without help of a body double.
The film shows him staying under the water for 18 long days. Coping with a similar environment is no cakewalk. Underwater action sequences sure made it more challenging. Though he happens to be a licensed diver, Rana required some rehearsals before he shot for the scenes. (Also Read: How ‘The Ghazi Attack’ helped Rana Daggubati know the Indian armed forces better)
“The film has some underwater action sequences that we were doing for the first time. These stunts were shot over 12 days with all necessary precautions. While one part was shot in an Olympic-size swimming pool, few of the underwater stunts were shot in the oceans off the coast of Vizag. It was not so simple because we didn’t know what we would encounter. We had to look out for sudden water currents and for pieces of metal. To shoot such scenes one has to be trained specially. I am a certified deep sea diver with a professional diving license, but it has been a while since I did my last dive. Had to do a few rehearsal rounds before I started the shoot,” Rana informed a leading channel.
‘The Ghazi Attack’ also stars Taapsee Pannu, Atul Kulkarni and Kay Kay Menon. It will hit the screens on February 17, 2017.
