After a long break, Parineeti Chopra made it to the headlines with her all new avatar. She managed to grab a lot of eyeballs when she pulled out that stunt of going fat to fab. People liked and appreciated her new fit persona so much that she bagged an award for this. At a recent award ceremony, she was felicitated with the Style Icon of the year award from redifinning herself by shading all those extra kilos. A good news for Parineeti, indeed! But, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor seems to be unhappy with it.
In a recent interview with the leading daily, Rishi Kapoor shared his opinions upon awards wherein he was quoted saying, “I couldn’t believe it when they recently gave an award to Parineeti Chopra for losing weight. Can someone please give me an award for gaining weight?” Now, that’s a harsh statement but thus comments came out when he was trying to portray the reliabilities of the award functions. Today, awards function have become like festivals in the Industry. So many actors winning so many awards across so many categories has now become very usual. Further Senior Kapoor said, “I never did believe in popular awards. It’s gotten much worse now. I use award trophies as doorstops in my home. What they have done to film awards is truly tragic. They’ve reduced them to trivia. Shameless. Agar sabko khush karna hai toh phir award ka matlab kya hua?”
Well, we see a valid point here made by Rishi Kapoor. Awards are a way to appreciate the quality work done by a celebrity which inturned enhanced the level of the Profession they are working for. Just loosing weight coul not be the sole criteria to win an award, right?
