Rishi Kapoor on meeting Dawood Ibrahim: There’s nothing wrong

Rishi Kapoor’s autobiography ‘Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored’ has been in news for having some really interesting revelations about the actor’s life. One of the secrets that Rishi has opened in the book is about his meeting with underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim.

In a recent interview, Rishi Kapoor was probed about his meeting with don, to which he said, “What was regretful about it? He invited me over for tea… I went to his house, thinking there was nothing wrong because he just a fugitive, he had not done the menace…”

But when the anchor emphasised that Dawood is a criminal, the actor replied, “So what? I meet so many criminals in my life… Maybe I am also a criminal, but I may have not committed any serious crime. But yes, as an actor I thought I would like to know his story. I did so much of him in ‘D-Day’, I was inspired by him for playing that role.”

Further when asked whether he is still in contact with the don, the veteran actor said, “No, there is no contact.”

“I don’t think we have any connect with underworld… We are a clean system, with corporate money and bank finances now,” he added.

Rishi also revealed that when his father Raj Kapoor died in 1988, Dawood had sent one representative to his house to pay condolence.

Further justifying his meeting with the don, Rishi Kapoor said, “I am not a hypocrite – there’s nothing wrong (with having met him). People go to prisons to meet criminals.. I met him in a foreign country. By that time, he had not gone against our country — at least not done something as grave as he did later.”

Well, we must say Rishi Kapoor has a fitting answer for everything.
