Kiku Sharda aka Palak from ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ was recently sent to 14 days Judicial Custody following a complaint filed by the followers of self-proclaimed Godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. The case was filed because apparently the religious sentiments of the people part of religious group Dera Sacha Sauda led by Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh were hurt by Kiku Sharda as he mimicked their leader on the comedy show. It was just an act and was not intended to hurt anyone said Kiku in his defense. He apologized for it too but, he was arrested and sent to the judicial custody.
This issue then led to a public outrage with a lot of people voicing their opinion in support of the comedian on social media. Our Bollywood celebrities who often take trips to this show to promote their films too supported Kiku. The act was purely for entertainment purpose and nothing else and an artist is free to do so said the celebrities. Rishi Kapoor, who always makes it to the headlines with his stun opinions about everything and anything, had an opinion on this issue as well. Rishi posted a picture of the spiritual leader who had donned the hat of a rockstar for his film ‘MSG – The Messenger’ and said that he would like to play his character in a film. This is what he said,
