Veteran actor-scriptwriter Salim Khan says being nominated to the Rajya Sabha would be a “great honour” but he has not been approached for this by any political party.
Salim, who is father of actors Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, and is married to yesteryear’s dancing diva Helen, took to Twitter on Saturday to deny reports that the Bharatiya Janata Party had offered him a Rajya Sabha seat.
“News ‘Salim Khan snubs BJP by refusing Rajya Sabha’ is wrong,” Salim tweeted on Saturday.
“Never been offered, if offered it’s a great honour. But will have to think cause of my age,” added the 80-year-old, who has written scripts for Bollywood films like ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’, ‘Seeta Aur Geeta’, ‘Zanjeer’, ‘Sholay’ and ‘Mr. India’ along with veteran writer Javed Akhtar.
