Bollywood actor Salman Khan is going through a harrowing time, Now with his Hit & Run Case at a culmination soon, He is on Thursday expected to record his statement in Arms Act case in Jodhpur. The Arms Act Case is regarding the killing of the protected Black Bucks with expired arms license.
But Salman Khan who is in Kashmir shooting for ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, might not be able to make it to court today. The reason for his absence being his ill health. The actor, is suffering from an ear infection which is why, he has sought for an exemption from appearance in court today.
On October 1-2, 1998, during the shooting of the movie “Hum Saath Saath Hain”, two blackbucks, a protected animal under the Wildlife Protection Act, were allegedly killed on the outskirts of Kankani village near Jodhpur. Salman Khan along with a few other stars were accused of poaching the blackbucks. He was also accused of carrying and using arms with an expired licence.
The final decision that was to be pronounced on February 25, was deferred after the prosecution brought to notice that their four applications were undecided since 2006. The court then heard all the applications and allowed the prosecution to present four more witnesses and three forensic lab reports along with the relevant material as a last chance.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Anupama Bijlani after completing examination of prosecution witnesses on Friday asked Salman’s counsel Hastimal Sarswat to ensure that the actor be his present in the court to record his statements.
Saraswat said, “It is a procedure of the court that after examination of prosecution witnesses, accused’s statements are required to be recorded and Salman Khan has been asked to appear in the court on April 23 for recording of his statements.”
However due to Salman’s absence, the court might now have to announce another date of hearing.
