With #Awardwapsi, #Intolerance and #IndiastandswithSRK trending across all social networks, the controversy regarding Shah Rukh Khan and his statement on rising intolerance in the country has taken a new height. While a row of Bollywood personalities have opened up stating how they feel about the same, the contradicting opinions and counter-opinions are adding to the flame.
Latest addition to it is Bollywood’s Dabangg Khan, i.e. Salman Khan. During a promotional event of his upcoming release Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Salman was asked to share his reaction on Shah Rukh Khan’s statement and also the issue of intolerance.
Salman didn’t look very happy on being asked about it and answered bluntly “This is a wrong forum for that… We are here to promote ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. But I will answer your question. My mother is Sushila Charak, my father is Salim Khan.” Well, did he just give a firm example of religious tolerance?
Salman said he wasn’t aware of what exactly had happened. “Shah Rukh always gets me in trouble. He says something and then I am asked about it. I have to come and explain”- he added. Howeve, his co-star in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Sonam Kapoor quickly took over the mic and said “I should answer this question. Anything that is intolerant or that is said without complete evidence is unacceptable, so people just saying things in the name of religion, class, creed is disgusting and I think we should rest what we have to say at that point.”
Commandable, we must say. May your words be heard, Sonam!
