The war between India-Pakistan is not only restricted to the border but has gone way beyond that. After Indian Government announced a blanket ban on all the Pakistani artistes working in Bollywood, Pakistan too announced a ban on Indian movies and artistes. But, they eventually withdrew the ban as movies like ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, ‘Kaabil’ and many others were released in Pakistan. But unfortunately, Salman Khan‘s upcoming film ‘Tubelight’ may not get a smooth release in Pakistan as it hits the theatres on the day of Eid. The Pakistan Film Distributors Association and the Pakistan Film Producers Association and many other filmmakers are trying to stall the release of ‘Tubelight’ as they don’t want the movie to affect the business of their local Pakistani movies releasing on Eid. Considering the star power of Salman Khan, the movie’s release on Eid indicates less business for their local movies. Also, the protestors state that as per the Federal Ministry of Information in 2010, Indian films will not be allowed to release on a Muslim holiday. In fact, the filmmakers are ready to drag this matter to court, if needed. Sources reveal that they will request the Government to not provide the makers of ‘Tubelight’ with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and for this purpose they are even willing to pen an official letter to Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif. They even had kept a meeting wherein a decision was made that the whole of Pakistani film industry will be joining the protest to halt the release of ‘Tubelight’ on Eid.
Altaf Hussain revealed, “It’s been decided that all those related to the Pakistani film industry will support the Pakistani films that are supposed to release on Eidul Fitr.” Actor Mustafa Qureshi stated that the Government should first give priority to local projects. He said, “I have always maintained that there should be a complete ban on Indian films.” Now, what does Salman Khan have to say to this?
‘Tubelight’ is directed by Kabir Khan and also marks the debut of Chinese actress Zhu Zhu.
