Sanjay Leela Bhansali

It was just yesterday morning that a news flash shocked everyone yet again. After the members of the Rajput Karni Sena stormed the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansai’s ‘Padmavati‘ in Jaipur in January and slapped the filmmaker, the director faced wrath once again, recently.

The ‘Padmavati’ sets which were now shifted to Kolhapur (Maharashtra) witnessed another unfortunate incident after a group of unidentified men set the sets on fire. The entire set was vandalised and it was reported that the area where the heavy and expensive costumes were kept, was lit with petrol bombs. The statement read, “The sets of Padmavati set in Kolhapur in Maharashtra region witnessed an unfortunate incident last night at around 12.30am, when certain miscreants attacked the film’s set and set it on fire in an attempt to damage the property. A complaint has been filed to investigate this matter further, but we are grateful that there has been no loss of life or harm to anybody on the set. While, thankfully the incident occurred after we had wrapped our shoot for the day and all the artists, cast and crew were safely away; unfortunately, around 70 – 80% of costumes and jewellery for the movie have been destroyed.”

The filmmaker has also filed a police complaint against the miscreants.
