The New Year episode of ‘Koffee With Karan 5’ was blast of mushiness with Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Rajput. It was the first time that we saw Shahid’s pretty wife making her debut on a TV show and get candid on couch. Revelations about their marriage and PDAs that made Karan uncomfortable were the highlights of the episode. However, the way they both glorified the idea of arrange marriage, or the fact that Shahid admitted being in love only after Mira conceived, or even the fact that he considered his wife the only ‘normal’ person he has dated, and many other comments, did not go down too well with a section of the viewers.
Many speculations and opinions have clouded the life of the couple, post the coffee session with Karan Johar. In an interview with a leading daily, on being asked if it affects him, Shahid coolly replied, “A mainstream star having an arranged marriage is unique. It is not everyday that a Hindi film hero goes and marries someone no one even knows of. I am an actor. Most parts of my life are up for discussion, by default. It won’t stop whether I like it or not. If people cross the line, we do get displeased. But the line itself is wide. We can’t be touchy and say, bhai mere baare mein koi baat nahin karega.”
On being asked if the reports affect Mira, the loving husband said, “Mira seems pretty chilled out about what’s written. My wife decides what she wants to do, where she wants to go, how she wants to go and who is allowed in the house. It is natural. In fact, that’s how it should be.”
Well, this is certainly a very sorted thinking towards dealing with varied opinions when the spotlight is on you.
On work front, the trailer of Shahid’s latest venture ‘Rangoon’ is out, where he stars alongside Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut. The trailer of the same is garnering appreciation.
