‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ wasn’t Vaani Kapoor’s dream debut. Here’s why…

After a hiatus of three long years, Vaani Kapoor is back with  ‘Befikre’. Given the score of competition Bollywood throws at its people, a newcomer taking a break of three years after her debut film is quite unusual. However, Vaani says she was waiting for the right film to come to her.

While ‘Befikre’ features her as the lead actress, ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’, being another YRF film, had her as a second lead after Parineeti Chopra.

“I was never told it was a second lead. I was told it’s a parallel lead, but I was in one-fourth of the film. It’s not the movie you want to begin with, but it was the best I had at that point of time. And it was Yash Raj Films, so I knew I was in safe hands. So yes, it wasn’t my dream debut but I don’t regret it. Adi (Aditya Chopra) noticed my work in ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ and that’s how I got ‘Befikre’,” Vaani told a leading daily.

‘Befikre’ stars Ranveer Singh opposite her. This is hopefully give the desired kick to her career in Bollywood!
