Just a few days back, Sonakshi Sinha voiced her desire of doing films with meatier characters. The actress made her debut with Salman Khan-starrer ‘Dabangg’ which went on to become a blockbuster and was the pioneer of 100-crore club in Bollywood.
Sonakshi later has had her share of commercial films, including ‘R… Rajkumar’ and ‘Son of Sardar’. However, with films like ‘Akira’ and ‘Noor’, her focus seems to have shifted to women-centric films with more defined characters. In a conversation with HT, she voiced her support for equal pay for actors and actresses.
“The only thing I can think of changing in Bollywood right now is the pay disparity, because we’re working in this day and age where films revolving around women are being made,” Sona said. (Also See: You will empathise with Sonakshi Sinha aka Noor in the song ‘Hai Zaroori’)
“If a filmmaker shows that kind of trust in a woman, and if she brings the returns (on investment), you can and should give her the pay that you give to the men,” she added.
‘Akira’ didn’t get a great response at the box office. With ‘Noor’ featuring Sonakshi as a journalist, we are hoping to see a strong story and some impactful characters.
