It’s raining biopics in Bollywood. Just yesterday, we reported that cricketer MS Dhoni was set to turn a producer with the biopic of legendary Hockey Player Dhyan Chand. Directed by National Award winning filmmaker Rohit Vaid, it is likely to cast Varun Dhawan.
The latest one to join the wagon is Sonu Sood, who has bought the rights of biopic on Badminton player PV Sindhu. Sindhu became the first ever female Badminton player of India to win a silver medal, at Olympics 2016.
With this, quite naturally, speculations pertaining to who might play Sindhu’s character have started doing rounds. In one of her older interviews, Sindhu had expressed her desire to act in her own biopic. However, if gossip mongers are to be believed, then Deepika Padukone is going to be considered for the same. However, nothing is confirmed yet. A source close to Deepika told Mid-Day, “It is natural to assume that she will be approached to play the part because she is familiar with the sport. Having said that, Deepika is fully invested in ‘Padmavati’ now. If the part is offered to her and she likes the script and director, and has the time for it, she will surely give her nod. Sonu and she know each other from the time they worked in ‘Happy New Year’ (2014), so it won’t be surprise.”
Deepika, who happens to be the daughter of Badminton player Prakash Padukone, was very much into the same sport until showbiz happened to her. At one point in her life, she in fact wanted to become a professional Badminton player only.
Sonu, although, says he has only bought the rights and nothing else has been decided yet.
