Dobaara

Mike Flanagan’s ‘Oculus’ which released in 2014, went on to become one of the world’s most iconic horror films, and scary too! Filmmaker Prawaal Raman, whose upcoming film ‘Dobaara’ is inspired by the Hollywood flick, has kept the essence intact. ‘Dobaara’ revolves around a possessed mirror which gives birth to strange conclusions.

There are spooky stories around broken, cursed mirrors. Many even consider a broken mirror ominous. Logically, we can dismiss any such superstition. However, Raman vouches that possessed mirrors indeed exist. He shared with us a true story of a gem merchant from Goa whose life changed drastically after he bought a strange mirror home. The merchant’s wife started walking in sleep with her eyes open. She even attempted to jump on their 1-year-old baby once. He himself started facing loss in his business and the children were continuously falling into troubles, one after another. Clueless, he one day called home Team Pentacle (a paranormal society) to investigate what was really wrong. They put their instrument below the mirror, and in a moment, the censor light was blinking, the safe distance meter was alerting them. The mirror was cursed.

The gem merchant lost his wife soon.

“It’s all about one’s belief. You manifest what you believe .Thoughts become things ! During the re search work on my previous work , I did came across many cases of articles being haunted ..it’s not just  about houses and people being possessed .objects too get possessed . It’s simple; if there are white positive forces, there is dark negative forces. If there is positive energy, there is negative energy. It is interesting to deal with possessed article in a movie rather than typical possessed house or people. The paranormal reach is unlimited,” the director told us.

Scary, isn’t it?

Starring Saqib Saleem and Huma Qureshi together for the first time, ‘Dobaara’ hits the screens on June 2.
