Actor Suniel Shetty, one of the pioneers of the fitness movement in India and a sports enthusiast, says his only dream was to play for the country but unfortunately couldn’t fulfill it.
“My only dream was to play for the country but unfortunately I couldn’t,” Suniel said during an event to support an innovative style of martial arts which includes dance steps.
“As far as studies were concerned, I only wanted to pass. My obsession was sports and to represent the school in any and every sport possible, be it cricket or other sports. But I’m happy with the fact that I got to entertain the audiences.”
On martial arts, he said: “If I have achieved anything in life, it is because of martial arts. And the way this particular form balances rhythm with mental and physical strength is brilliant.”
On the emergence of various sports leagues like the Indian Super League (football) and the Indian Premier League (cricket), he said: “Thousands got the opportunity to earn a livelihood with the IPL and other leagues. And this proves that India is emerging as a top sporting destination in the world.”
