salman khan and sunny deol

It was just this morning that reports of a clash between Salman Khan‘s ‘Tubelight’ and Sunny Deol’s ‘Bhaiyyaji Superhit’ surfaced online. Well, the release date of Salman Khan’s Tubelight’ was pre-decided long back considering the fact that he has a mandatory Eid release every year, Sunny Deol’s ‘Bhaiyyaji Superhit’ only came up with the date of release this morning.

So, ever since the release date of Sunny Deol’s ‘Bhaiyyaji Superhit’ has been announced, there have been stories about how the makers of the movie should reconsider their Eid release date as Salman Khan’s movies have ruled the box office every Eid, and nobody has dared to even come closer to his Eid releases. But, it looks like the producer of ‘Bhaiyyaji Superhit’, Mahindra Dhariwal is pretty confident about his product and has no second thoughts over the decided date of release.

He opened up with Bollywood Life by saying, “After finalising the date, we had a meeting with the distributors. The picture has strong content and it has come out well, so I don’t have any issues clashing with Salman Khan’s ‘Tubelight’. The occasion is great, there is a festival, so two films can release together and perform well. I don’t think ‘Tubelight’ will have an impact on our collections. It is a festival period, so our film will perform as it has to.”

He also stated that he is not ready to settle for less screens. He added, “We want 2500 screens and we have spoken to our distributor. We might be able to get 2000 screens easily. It is not a small film, it is a big release. We have Sunny Deol, Arshad Warsi, Preity Zinta, Ameesha Patel. It is a comedy action film on the lines of ‘Golmaal’ and has Sunny Deol in a double role.”

He further said that he will personally talk to Salman Khan about the clash of their movies. “We haven’t spoken to Salman yet, but we will meet him personally to talk about the clash. But we are prepared for the clash. Sunny Deol will not be there during the meeting with the distributors or with Salman Khan. He has told me that I am the producer, so I know what is right and I should do that. Clashes are common now. ‘Raees’, ‘Kaabil’ had a clash recently and according to me, if the content is good and it is a festival period, then two films can easily sustain,” said Dhariwal.

We don’t know what will be the final result, but we hope that both movies perform very well at the box office.
