Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Jolly LL.B 2‘ had a hearing before Supreme Court today as a petitioner had stated that the movie depicted lawyers in a poor light. The bench of Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Ashok Bhushan has asked the High Court to hear the case on February 6, after which the Supreme Court will hear the plea on February 7. (ALSO READ: Huma Qureshi on her role in ‘Jolly LL.B 2’: There’s a shift when I take over)
Senior advocate A M Singhvi, who is appearing on behalf of the movie producers, stated that the movie has already received a clearance from the CBFC and the appointment of the panel is not according to the law. Justice Gogoi said, “We will not see the film. We will tell you why we will not see the film. We don’t have three hours’ patience. Don’t you think that three hours is too long?”
A Nanded based lawyer Ajaykumar Waghmare has filed a petition saying that the movie depicts the legal profession and the judicial system in a bad light. He told the High Court, “An attempt to portray the Indian legal profession and judicial system as a laughing stock to society at large.”
‘Jolly LL.B 2’ is directed by Subhash Kapoor and stars Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi in main roles. The movie is slated to release on February 10, 2017.
