Farhan Akhtar was much popular as a talented filmmaker till the arrival of musical drama ‘Rock On!!’ where everyone saw him entering into acting and singing. This new move of Farhan was much appreciated by everyone, whereas the film went on to achieve a cult status. Farhan who is now ready with the sequel ‘Rock On!! 2’, says making the second part was exciting, but it also carried the expectations of being notches higher than the first one which was a big challenge in itself.
Talking about it to at the teaser launch of ‘Rock On!! 2’, Farhan said, “It was equally exciting and challenging to make a sequel. We wanted the best in every segment of the film be it in music, casting, or the location. Most importantly, we have a certain responsibility to the sequel and the people who have really kept the memories of the film alive, so that while watching, the audience would feel that we have made the film with same sincerity and love.”
“The biggest challenge is to live up to the audience’s expectation,” added the actor-filmmaker.
One of the key highlights of the first part was the rock music composed by musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy with its lyrics penned by Farhan’s father, veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar.
Talking about the music and story base of the sequel, Farhan said, “I think we became more matured in these 8 years. We have included instruments like Keyboard, Sarod. It will be interesting as the writing is little more matured from the first one.” [sic]
Directed by Shujaat Saudagar, the film has been shot in Shillong. Apart from Farhan, actors Arjun Rampal, Prachi Desai, Purab Kohli will be seen reprising their roles. Shraddha Kapoor and Shashank Arora are the new entrants to the cast of this sequel.
