Jiah Khan missing dupatta

Actress Jiah Khan died a tragic death, three years back in the year 2013. However, the murky circumstances surrounding her alleged suicide have kept the case alive. The ghost of the past keeps catching up as every now and then a shocking detail of her death keeps cropping up. And now a very important piece of evidence which was missing has emerged, and that is the dupatta of Jiah.

The dupatta, which mysteriously went missing, has been found at the Forensic Science Laboratory, Kalina.

Eyebrows are being raised as the fact has come to surface that CBI did not bother to collect this pivotal piece of evidence, and did so only after the intervention of Rabia Khan, Jiah’s mother.

On being asked, a scientist from the Forensic Lab explained how even a single strand of hair and a single drop of blood is crucial as evidence which can be used to come to a conclusion.

There is an obvious conflict between Kalpana Gadekar, Senior Inspector, BKC Police Station, and Swapnil Ambure, Jiah Khan’s lawyer, on this. “Usually, we do not submit the exhibits received from the crime scene until the trial begins, and in the Jiah Khan case, the trial had been stayed by the Bombay High Court, so there was no reason for us to submit the exhibits,” Kalpana said.

Swapnil, however, had different views on the matter. “Our contention is that the CBI did not submit the dupatta for examination to the expert committee at Chandigarh and therefore the committee could not come to a conclusion without examining it,” said the lawyer.

CBI’s statement on the matter further intensifies the matter. The said, “We had been writing to the FSL, Kalina, asking them to submit all the exhibits, including the dupatta, but they never responded to us.”

The lawyer responded with a counter question, saying, “If the CBI had written letters to the FSL, Kalina, why did they not inform the court about it? Also, how could the CBI submit a charge sheet in the case without the dupatta being examined?”

He further added, “The Chandigarh team could not come to a conclusion without examining the dupatta and other materials. How then could the CBI claim to have to completed its probe?”

Well, we really hope that the case gets solved soon so that the departed can rest in peace.
