Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s upcoming satirical comedy ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ is in news day in and day out. And now Praveen Vyas, a documentary filmmaker has sent a legal notice to the makers of the film alleging that various scenes and dialogues from the movie are directly lifted from his award-winning documentary ‘Manini’. The documentary had even bagged the third prize at the renowned International Film Festival Of India (IFFI) last year.
Now, the co-producer Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment has denied these allegations. Speaking to a leading daily, she said, “These allegations are baseless and untrue and we would deny them categorically. The script of our film is duly registered in the name of our writers since 2013. The film and its details are in public domain from July 2015 through various news articles and media all over.”
Producer and co-founder of Friday Film Works, Shital Bhatia also added, “The film is based on a larger issue of open defecation in our country, which all are aware of. We firmly deny all misleading claims of the concerned parties. It’s really sad that genuine producers are put to this kind of nuisance close to their film’s release.”
The movie is directed by Shree Narayan Singh and stars Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles. The movie is all set to release on August 11, 2017.
