A few days back, a painter on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali‘s ‘Padmavati’ died an unfortunate death while working on a set. He fell from a height of 5 ft. on his head. Although he was immediately rushed to the hospital, the doctors declared him dead. Now, Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union has demanded that Bhansali compensates the artist’s family.
Gangeshwarlal Shrivastav, the General Secretary of the union, said that a notice will be issued to Bhansali’s production house, asking him pay due compensation, claiming that the adequate safety measures are not followed during structure of large sets.

“These days, producers and directors of big productions spend considerably, but do not take care of workers who toil hard. Just like an actor is taken care of on the sets, there should be a facility of ambulance, safety belt and safety cap and other safety measures taken for the benefit of the workers who toil on the sets.”
These safety measures should not only be applicable to stars but the entire unit connected to the particular film,” he added.
‘Padmavati’ lead actress Deepika Padukone also took to Twitter to mourn Mukesh Dakia, the painter’s death. “Shocked and saddened by the news… May his soul rest in peace and my most sincere condolences to his family,” she wrote.
A police case has been lodged at Arrey police station and further investigations are on.
