Varun Dhawan Alia Bhatt Karan Johar

Karan Johar sure played a lucky factor in both Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan’s careers. They debuted with Karan’s ‘Student of the Year’ and never looked back. Four years down the lane, ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ is Alia’s seventh association with Dharma Productions. For Varun, it’s his third film under the banner.

One might assume that they sign films with Karan, thanks to the warm personal relationship they share. However, being the kind of thorough professionals that they are, neither Varun nor Alia would ever sign a film if it has no prospect.

“It took a year-and-half to come up (with) ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’. We did not settle for just anything. We both are in a strong place in our career, we will not do a film just for the sake of it, no matter who is making it,” Varun said, during an interaction with the press.

“We share a very comfortable relationship with Karan Johar. If we don’t like something we can say no to him. He has kept that option open. But Karan will never offer us anything that is not good enough,” he said, adding that Alia is someone who never settles for anything less than perfect.

The film, which is a follow-up of the 2014 film ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’, is set to release on March 10.
