Director Vishal Bhardwaj is collaborating with Kangana Ranaut in his period drama “Rangoon”, and he says she is one of the finest actresses in Bollywood today.
Kangana stars alongside Saif Ali Khan and Shahid Kapoor in the period love-triangle. While Bhardwaj has worked with Saif in “Omkara” and Shahid in “Kaminey” and “Haider”, he is working with the “Queen” star for the first time.
“Kangana is one of the finest actresses that we have in the industry today. I always want to work with fine actors. I want to work with people like Irrfan and Kangana because they are such great actors,” Bhardwaj told PTI.
Both Saif and Shahid have given their career’s best performance in Bhardwaj’s films and the director is confident that they will be great in “Rangoon” as well.
“They suit their roles and I like them a lot,” he added.
Bhardwaj will start working on “Rangoon” sometime around mid-November but the director denies that it is inspired by “Casablanca”.
“It is a period film, during the World War II in the 1940s. Like ‘Casablanca’ it is a love-triangle but it is in no way inspired or adapted from any film. It is an original work.”
