Did you know Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was once removed from five films ‘without any reason’?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one of the most popular and successful actresses of Bollywood. Aishwarya made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil film Iruvar and then there was no looking back for her. Over the years, Aishwarya has appeared in many movies including Guzaarish, Guru, and Ponniyin Selvan: I among others. However, there was a time when she was removed from five films.

Aishwarya was removed from five films

During her interaction with Simi Garewal on her show ‘Rendezvous with Simi Garewal’, Aishwarya said she was ‘hurt’ when she was removed from five films without any explanation. Referring to Shah Rukh Khan, when Simi Garewal asked, “You were working together in five films, weren’t you? Aish. Veer Zaara was written for you.”

In response, Aishwarya said, “There were a couple of films that were supposed to happen with me. But suddenly they weren’t happening, without any reason whatsoever. I have never had the answer to why.”

When asked if it was her decision to walk out of the films, Aishwarya replied, “No, it wasn’t my decision. You obviously are taken aback, confused and of course hurt. You wonder about it.”

Veer Zaara starred Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta. Aishwarya was supposed to be a part of the film. During the interview, when Simi Garewal asked Aishwarya if she’d ever asked Shah Rukh Khan the reason behind replacing her. Aishwarya replied, “It’s not in my nature to. If a person feels a need to explan it, they will. If they never did, they never intend to. So, it’s not in my nature to get into questioning what and why. Probably within myself, but I wouldn’t go up to a person and ask why. By the grace of God, I’m not defined by the other.” Reportedly, Aishwarya was also offered Kal Ho Naa Ho and Chalte Chalte.

When Shah Rukh Khan apologised to Aish

Later, during an interview with India Today, Shah Rukh Khan had expressed regret over removing her from films. The actor had said, “To start a project with someone and then change her for no fault of hers is very difficult. It is very sad as Ash is a good friend. Personally, I think I did wrong. But as a producer it made sense. I apologised to Ash.”

Aishwarya and Shah Rukh Khan are one of the most loved onscreen pairs of Bollywood. The actors have worked together in movies like Josh, Devdas, and Mohabbatein. They were last seen together in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Aishwarya will be seen in Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: II. The trailer was released on Wednesday. Ponniyin Selvan: II is slated to release on 28^th April, 2023. Talking about Shah Rukh Khan, he will be seen in Jawan and Dunki.
