Superstars Akshay Kumar and Aamir Khan have never worked together in any movie, but not many know that the duo could have shared screen space long back. Yes, Akshay Kumar had auditioned for a role in Aamir starrer ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’ but was rejected by the director.
It so happened that the makers had organized a nationwide campaign to find the perfect fit for the character of Shekhar Malhotra. Akshay had auditioned for the character of the main antagonist in the film that was eventually played by Deepak Tijori. Director Mansoor Khan had rejected the actor.
In a recent interview to Midday, Akshay had revealed that he had auditioned for the role. He was made to shoot for a volleyball sequence but the makers were not happy with his act.
Akshay said, “Apna screen test diya maine, for Deepak Tijori’s role. And they didn’t like it. And, apparently, I was crap, so they removed me.”
In 2016’s MAMI festival, choreographer Farah Khan, who was also the part of casting team of ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander’ had revealed that director Mansoor Khan didn’t find Akshay fit for the role of Shekhar Malhotra, so he rejected him.
However, we still do hope to see Akshay and Aamir share screen space in near future.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar is busy with the promotions of his upcoming release ‘Gold’ that will hit the theaters on August 15. The sports drama marks the debut of television actress Mouni Roy.
He is also busy shooting for ‘Kesari’ based on the famous ‘Battle of Saragarhi’ that took place between the Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and the Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen in 1897. Directed by Anurag Singh, Kesari is all set to release during Holi 2019.
