When Deepika Padukone recalled a Hollywood actor telling her ‘you speak English really well’

Deepika Padukone is one of the most successful actresses of Bollywood. Deepika made her acting debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om and then there was no looking back for her. The actress has proved her versatility with projects such as Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Padmaavat, Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela, Piku, and Chhapaak among others. Deepika made her Hollywood debut with the action film, XXX: Return of Xander Cage. She has not announced any Hollywood project yet.

Having said that, here’s looking back at the time when Deepika revealed the reason behind not signing any more international films. The actress once told Business of Fashion, “You are the scientist. You are the computer geek. You are the taxi driver. You are the therapist. You are the owner of a convenience store. I’ve had my fans me why I’ve not done more global films. But that’s not what I’m settling for, because I am – and we are – so much more than that. It would upset me every time I went to the US. Some of the things that are said and some of the things that are done just make it so obvious that people don’t know the world outside of the world that they live in.”

Further recalling an interaction with Hollywood actor, Deepika said, “I know this actor… I met him at this Vanity Fair Party, and he said ‘Hey by the way, you speak English really well’. I didn’t even realise what that meant. And when I came back I said, ‘What do you mean you speak English really well?’ Did he have this notion that we don’t speak English?’”

On the work front, Deepika will be next seen in Pathaan. The actress is reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan. John Abraham is also a part of the film. Pathaan trailer was released a few days ago and it received a good response. Pathaan is slated to release on January 25, 2023.

Apart from this, Deepika also has Project K in the pipeline. She will be seen sharing screen space with Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan and Disha Patani. The actress also has the Hindi remake of The Intern. Deepika also has Fighter with Hrithik Roshan.
