Nicknames are something that can either make or break a personality – not literally though, but surely among the peers. From being cute to somewhere little embarrassing, the nicknames of our B-Town celebs has been an interesting topic. They either come from their parents, grandparents, close relatives or to some extent by colleagues and friends. Recently, we came across an episode of a talk show where one such funny revelation was done by actress Bipasha Basu, who shared that she was nicknamed ‘Bhopu’ by her first co-star in Hindi films. No points for guessing, it was none other than Bollywood’s Khiladi, actor Akshay Kumar!
While speaking to host Farooque Sheikh in show ‘Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai’, Akshay shared quite a few anecdotes from his life. Among his close associates and friends from the film industry, director duo Abbas-Mustan had come on the sets to meet him. Many would be aware that with Abbas-Mustan and Akshay have teamed up for films like ‘Khiladi’, ‘Ajnabee’ and ‘Aitraaz’. And it was their 2001 released suspense thriller ‘Ajnabee’ which marked the acting debut of actress Bipasha Basu in Bollywood opposite him (Akshay Kumar). While having a conversation with the director duo about the actor, host Farooque Sheikh said that there’s one message from Akshay’s co-star for him. It was Bipasha Basu who said, “So you rag me a lot and pull my leg a lot. It helped me, so I just wish you guys have a great life, you and Tina (Twinkle Khanna) together have great cute babies and I just wanna tell you that I hate that nickname Bhopu that you gave me, you better start calling me by my name. And just take care. Bye.”
This certainly gives a glimpse into the prankster side of the actor. Now, we are still wondering whether Akshay has stopped calling Bipasha as ‘Bhopu’ or no.
