When Lata Mangeshkar opened up about never getting married in life

The Nightingale of Indian Lata Mangeshkar passed away today. She was 92 years old and she breathd her last at 8:12 am today at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Lata Mangeshajr has been in the public eye for more that 70 years and she was subjceted to rumours and romantic link ups, but she always kept her perosnal life very close knit. Lata Mangeshkar never got married in her life and reports say that it was because of her family situation.

In an earlier interviw  with TOI, the singer had opened up about never marrying anyone and if she misses not being married, “No. Everything happens according to God’s wish. Jo hote hai acche ke liye hote hai aur jo nahin hote who aur acche ke liye hote hai. Had you asked me this about four to five decades back, perhaps you would have got a different answer. But today I have no room for such thoughts.”

In 2013, when she was asked about the lucky man in her life, she told HT, “There are some things only for the heart to know. Let me keep it that way.”

Reports say that Mangeshkar’s decision to never get married was rooted in the fact that she had to take care of her siblings from an early age. She was the eldest of the five siblings and she had vowed to give them the best of education and life which eventually led to her never setting down with a man.

Meanwhile, Lata Mangeshkar’s funeral will take place at Shivaji Park today and her last rites will be done with full state honours.
