When Rajkummar Rao auditioned for Boogie Woogie just to visit Shah Rukh Khan’s Mannat and Amitabh Bachchan’s Jalsa

Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao needs no introduction when it comes to his brilliant movies and careful choice of films. Needless to say, the actor has delivered stunning performances from Kai Po Che! to Stree and many more. Now, he is gearing up for the release of the web series Guns & Gulaabs, which is around the corner and is all set to release on August 18 only on Netflix.

While we speak of Rajkummar, we already know his sheer brilliance in acting; his films are proof of the same! Well, did you also know that the Stree actor is also an amazing dancer? Yes, you read that right! The actor has kept his fans and followers impressed with his killer dance moves as well. Speaking of which, recently, he revealed that he had auditioned for the dance reality show, Boogie Woogie.

Rajkummar Rao had auditioned for Boogie Woogie before picking up acting

Exclusively speaking with India Today, Rajkummar said, “So sitting in Gurgaon, there was this dance reality show, in fact, the first dance reality show, if I am not wrong, which was Boogie Woogie. I used to, of course, watch it. I was a big fan of the show and I got to know that they were auditioning and the auditions are in Bombay. And I always wanted to go to Bombay. I remember I was in class 10th, I think, in 2000, and I always wanted to go to the city and just try and see the actors.”

Though he was a good dancer, he got rejected from the show, and that’s when he decided he wanted to be an actor. He added, “It was then that I decided that this is what I wanted to do. I want to be an actor in films. So me and my brother, who is just four years younger than me, went to Mumbai to audition for Boogie Woogie and didn’t get selected. Not because I was very serious about that or because I had to make a career in dance.” 

Further, he also spoke about his wish to visit King Khan aka Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan’s house in the city. Addressing this, he said, “I think for me it was an excuse to visit Bombay and just see my dream city. To visit Shah Rukh Khan’s house, Mannat, I could see Bachchan sir’s house and see some actors. I also wanted to see shoots happening. At that point in time, in the 90s, everything about the actors was a mystery, unlike now where everything is on social media. Every day of what you do, where you live, how you live, everything is available.”

As mentioned before, Rajkummar is all set for the release of the most anticipated web series Guns & Gulaabs. The audience will witness him share the screen alongside talented stars including Gulshan Devaiah, Dulquer Salmaan, Gourav Adarsh, and Pooja A Gor among others. Apart from this, the netizens will also witness Rajkummar in Stree 2. The filming for the most awaited sequel has already begun and has skyrocketed the excitement levels for the same!
