Rohit Shetty was the body double for Akshay Kumar in the movie Suhaag?

Rohit Shetty is one of the ace directors of Bollywood and he has given some of the best entertainers to the cinema. But Rohit’s career was no cakewalk as he had his own fair share of struggles. Did you know that Rohit Shetty was the body double for Akshay Kumar in the 1994 movie Suhaag?

Rohit started out as an assistant director and stunt performer. It was during one of the episodes of e fifth season of the reality show Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2017. Akshay Kumar and Sajid Khan and Shreyas Talpade were on the judging panel. Rohit Shetty was seen on the show as he made an appearance with his Golmaal Again cast Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Tabu, Arshad Warsi, and Tushhar Kapoor.

Akshay was seen joking that Rohit had first met his as an assistant director on the sets of the 1994 film Suhaag. The director would then call him sir. Rohit had revealed, “During Suhaag, I was actually his body double. I even learnt his walk for it.”

He has come a long way as Rohit then director Akshay in the 2021 film Sooryavanshi. It was one of the highest-grossing movies of that year. Talking about the Sooryavanshi success celebration, Rohit had told India Today, “Well everyone knows I am a workaholic. Whatever party we do, it will be with my core team who has been with me for years. We plan to have a dinner in Ooty with everyone. The prep work for the Cirkus shoot has already begun so the best way to celebrate Sooryavanshi success is to jump into another film. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this joy.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Rohit has next Cirkus which stars Ranveer Singh and Jacqueline Fernandez with Pooja Hegde. The film is the official remake of the 1982 Gulzar comedy Angoor.
