Not Salman Khan, but THIS actor was the first choice for Maine Pyar Kiya

Salman Khan is all set to roar in his upcoming movie Tiger 3. Going back to his first movie Maine Pyar Kiya, it is one of the most iconic romantic movies of all time. Sooraj Barjatya’s Maine Pyar Kiya emerged as Salman Khan’s breakthrough into Bollywood and he shared the screen with Bhagyashree. Although Maine Pyar Kiya is remembered as a memorable tale of love and friendship, did you know that Salman Khan was not the first choice for the movie? Yes, you read that right.

Piyush Mishra was the first choice for a lead in Maine Pyar Kiya

Piyush Mishra is a multi-talented actor, singer, lyricist, screenwriter and musician. He has been a part of movies like Gangs of Wasseypur, Gulaal, Happy Bhaag Jayegi and many more and has played pivotal roles in all. Now, speaking with Lallantop, he revealed how he was approached for a meeting at the Rajshri office. PIyush said, “My director (of NSD) called me to his room. Now, I was very handsome in my time. When I went to the chamber, I was introduced to Rajkumar Barjatya. He said they are making a film called Maine Pyar Kiya, they have shortlisted the girl, and now they have come to NSD to find the male lead.”

Further, he also shared that had agreed initially for it but he did not follow through. It was after three years that he visited and saw that Salman Khan had become a big star with Maine Pyar Kiya. He also said that this was remarkable for him as he observed that he wouldn’t have been doing what he does now if he had gone back then.

Released in 1989, Salman Khan and Bhagyashree starrer Maine Pyar Kiya was a Hindi language romantic musical drama movie. Before Maine Pyar Kiya, Salman Khan had also played a supporting role in his Biwi Ho Toh Aisi in 1988. Further, Maine Pyar Kiya opened doors for Salman Khan. Now, he is now one of the most famous and most loved actors. Speaking of Maine Pyar Kiya, it turned out to be a blockbuster and won six Filmfare Awards.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan is gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie Tiger 3. Headlined by Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi, Tiger 3 has a release date of 12th November, 2023.
