Director Shekhar Kapur is best known for his films like ‘Bandit Queen’, ‘Mr. India’ and ‘Elizabeth’. In his career, the filmmaker has helmed several critically acclaimed and commercially successful films in both India as well as Hollywood. Many of you wouldn’t know that Kapur was born in 1945 in Lahore and came to India during the partition. The filmmaker never discussed his personal life publically. But the prevailing tension between Indian and Pakistan made Kapur emotional and he shared his own story of survival.

Taking to a Twitter, Shekhar recalled the terrifying time and narrated a chilling incident when he witnessed India’s partition in 1947. He also revealed that what his mother did to save him and his sister from being massacred.

On February 27, Pakistan Air Force targeted military installations on the Indian side. Alert IAF gave a befitting reply and shot down one Pakistani fighter jet. Unfortunately, during counter operations, due to the technical snag, one fighter jet crashed and Pakistani forces arrested Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman. However, a day after, Pakistan PM Imran Khan announced that they will be releasing him as a gesture of peace. Kapur had then tweeted that he is looking forward to welcoming Abhinandan.

Coming back to Shekhar Kapur, on March 4, 2018, the director had shared his family photo on Twitter.

We hope that better sense prevails between the two countries and the rising tension de-escalates at the earliest.
