Rishi Kapoor’s interview

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor is one actor who shares his thoughts and opinions without any qualms and without mincing his words. In fact, many have attributed this trait of his to his arrogance. Currently, the actor is in the second innings of his career in Bollywood, wherein we often see him in diverse roles. Many would be aware, Rishi Kapoor had made his acting debut as a child actor in his father and late filmmaker Raj Kapoor’s ‘Mera Naam Joker’ (1970) which even won him the prestigious National Film Award for Best Child Artist. Thereafter, post a grand debut with ‘Bobby’ (1973) as a hero, there was no looking back for him. Rishi Kapoor has always maintained that he is a difficult actor to work with. And recently, we caught upon something which is a perfect example of the same.

He said on the show, “I was doing two shifts a day. First shift used to be in Madh Island for some producer, the next shift was in RK Studios, which is pretty far from Madh Island. The director was pretty mad, he was after my life, ‘kahaani sunani hai, kahaani sunani hai’. So I said listen, why don’t you come to Madh. I’m going to pack up a little early by about 1, 1:30. We’ll have lunch and then you tell your driver to follow my van. We’ll sit in the van and then we’ll go chatting. That’s what happened. Bas yahan wahan ki baatein and then I said chal bata teri kahaani kya hai?”

“He said sir, kahaani badi aasaan hai. Ek raat ki kahaani hai. It’s actually a who’s done it kind of stuff. It’s like ek murder hota hai… And I was like ek minute yaar, tune 15 second pehle kya kaha? Tune kaha ke yeh ek raat ki kahaani hai? I was like matlab tu poori picture raat mein hi banaega? Haan sir zaahir hai raat mein hi banaunga. So I shouted out at my driver, Tukaram gaadi roko! He stopped the car and I was like, gentleman please get out of my van and step into your car. I’m not doing this picture! I’ve just finished ‘Saagar’ and I’m forever shooting in the night in that film!,” added the actor.

Hahahaha! We can imagine the expression of the director. But it is quite strange that a star refused to do a film because of this reason, given Bollywood’s life comes alive at night.

Strange, isn’t it?

Well, we are just wondering what project it was. It will be a hidden treasure in the history of Bollywood.
