‘We witnessed Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s love story on the set,’ reveals Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa co-star Suchitra Krishnamoorthi

Shah Rukh Khan and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi starred together in the 1994 romantic drama Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. The heartwarming film was a success and over the years, became a cult classic. But the film’s success was doubly special for SRK as he shot for the film quite soon after his wedding with Gauri Khan. Now, in a recent interview, Suchitra gave an insight in the SRK-Gauri love story during that time.

Everyone knows that SRK is head over heels in love with wife Gauri. The two are one of the most loved couples in showbiz. But as Suchitra informed, he has always been that way with her. In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, she opened up on being a viewer of the SRK-Gauri romance on set as Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa was shot soon after their marriage. She said, “We were witnessing it on the set with Gauri. The way he was with Gauri, he used to be like she is made of rose petals, you know the way he used to treat her. It was just so beautiful.”

Today, we see SRK as the ladies’ man, but as unimaginable as it may sound, at that time, the actor didn’t use to be as comfortable around women. That actually gave Suchitra a chance to bond with Gauri much more. She shared, “Shah Rukh was very reserved. I used to hang out with Gauri. He used to be quite shy and quiet with me. I think he was shy with women.”

King Khan’s Sunil Singh from the film will always be a special character. Even Shah Rukh acknowledges that. On February 26 this year, as the film completed 29 years, SRK penned a beautiful note for his character. He wrote, “At that stage…in that age…..raw….uncontrolled….craft still undefined….surrounded by the best cast and crew in India and a director who I miss every day! Taught me that sometimes u lose the moment….but win everything else…I am sure somewhere, some world Sunil did too!!”
