Actor Satish Kaushik who was popularly known for his role in Mr India passed away on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack while travelling in a car. The actor’s sudden death has shocked the nation while condolences messages are pouring in on social media. As one of the finest actors has departed for the heavenly abode, we came across an interesting story about the time when actor Aamir Khan was rejected by Satish Kaushik who was the chief Assistant director. Aamir wanted to work with him for the assistant director role in Mr India.
Here’s why Satish didn’t hire Aamir for the job:
Earlier, during a conversation with Humans of Bombay, the Dangal actor recalled their meeting, and said, “I had gone and met Shekhar Kapur because he was one of my favourite directors. So I told him I want to work with you as an assistant. At that time, Satish Kaushik was his chief assistant director. I had a meeting and showed my paperwork on what I do, kitna kuch aata hai and wo bohot impress hue the paperwork se because uss time industry mein koi paperwork karta hi nahi tha. Na Satish karta tha (They were very impressed with the paperwork because nobody in the industry did paperwork then).”
Aamir then mentioned that he was good at managing sets as an AD but still didn’t get the job. He then learned, “Later Satish told me that tu jab aaya tha mujhse milne meeting ke liye, to tu gaadi chala ke aaya tha and mere paas gaadi nahi thi. To mujhe laga main jis junior ko hire karunga, uske paas gaadi hai (When you had come for a meeting with me, you came in a car and I didn’t have a car. So, I felt that the junior who I will hire has a car).”
Aamir tried to explain that the car was not his but his friends and he used his car to run some errands. But to no avail, as he didn’t get the job as assistant director in Mr India. For the unversed, Satish Kaushik played the role of house help Calendar in Anil Kapoor and Sridevi starrer Mr India.
Reportedly, Satish Kaushik died after suffering a heart attack and his funeral will be performed today in Mumbai after a postmortem in the afternoon.
