Shah Rukh Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Kajol starrer Baazigar went on to be a blockbuster hit. The 1993 film directed by Abbas-Mustan was a huge turning point in Shah Rukh Khan’s career. But do you know if things had gone as planned then Deepak Tijoril would have played the iconic character.

Deepak Tijori on Baazigar
Deepak Tijori is known for films like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander,Sadak, Aashiqui and more. The actor had watched A Kiss Before Dying and loved the idea of making a Bollywood film on it. He had worked with Abbas Mustan so took this concept to them. They loved the idea and it was decided the movie will be made with Deepak in the leading role. But sadly things took an entirely different turn and though the film was made it had SRK in the leading role.
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Deepak shared the anecdote and said, “There was a time when I was doing extremely well for myself. And I decided that I want to make this and I want to play the bad guy because A Kiss Before Dying is about Matt Dillon being a bad guy. Abbas Mustan liked the script and agreed to do it.“

He mentioned that Pahlaj Nihalani had also given a green signal to the project. Deepak gave Pooja Bhatt’s name as the female lead, playing the double role. But Pahlaj informed him that Abbas Mustan had approached Shah Rukh Khan to play the lead.
“Pahlaj asked me to change the director and shot the film without informing Abbas Mustan. But I didn’t want to do that. So, I said let me have a word with them. I went to discuss the issue with Abbas Mustan along with Rikku Rakesh Nath. The director duo promised me that they will compensate for it, however, it never happened“, added the actor.
Baazigar was later made with Kajol and Shilpa Shetty in lead roles alongside Shah Rukh Khan.
